Leo Nippa
Founder of NIPPA:
In the 1800s, Leo's parents moved from Finland for a better life in the United States and settled in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula deep in the heart of Copper Country.
Leo was born in Calumet, MI in 1898. In his mid 20's Leo and began crafting wood-burning sauna stoves inspired by the traditions of his homeland. Leo's commitment to durability and heat efficiency led to start the company in 1930.
What started in a small workshop in Bruce Crossing grew into a legacy of American-made sauna stove craftsmanship that still lives on today. NIPPA Sauna stoves—built by hand, forged with pride, and engineered to last.

Philip Casteleyn
Managing Partner & Storyteller of American Craftsmanship
I’ve always believed the best brands are built the same way great products are — with heart, honesty, and hard work. When I stepped into Nippa Sauna Stoves, my goal wasn’t just to make stoves; it was to protect a piece of American history and share it with a new generation. Through Nippa, Classic Dock & Boat Lift and our parent company AOP Technology, we’re building a family of companies rooted in craftsmanship and purpose, where every weld, bolt, and flame tells a story. Michigan is home, and it’s where my family and I are raising our kids to appreciate the same values that built this place: grit, integrity, and pride in doing things the right way. That’s the spirit behind everything we make and everything we stand for.
